COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT: This position is in a collective bargaining unit.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This position is located in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, Office of Tax and Revenue, Real Property Tax Administration, Assessment Division. The Appraiser (Commercial) inspects and appraises a broad range of commercial properties with extremely unusual and/or complex characteristics to determine the value for tax assessment purposes; prepares and analyzes highly complex or controversial appraisals; assists the supervisor with reviews of appraisals and appraisal reports; and provides guidance to lower graded appraisal staff. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Four (4) years of progressive experience performing related duties and responsibilities such as: assessing the market value and conducting inspections of residential and/or commercial properties; collecting/analyzing data on new and unique properties with complex characteristics; reviewing appraisal reports to ensure property values are estimated accurately and objectively; resolving property value problems; and providing training to lower-level staff. In addition, successful completion of IAAO courses 101, 102, 112 and 300 or equivalent is required.
Specialized Experience Experience that provides the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for this position.

SALARY REDUCTION OF REEMPLOYED ANNUITANTS: An individual selected for employment in the District Government on or after January 1, 1980, who is receiving an annuity under any District government civilian retirement system, shall have his or her pay reduced by the amount of annuity allocable to the period of employment as a reemployed annuitant.
