Job Description


The Department of Sport and Exercise Science at Lincoln Memorial University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Exercise Science. Teaching responsibilities may include Injury Evaluation of Extremities, Therapeutic Modalities, Rehabilitation & Therapeutic Exercise, General Medical Considerations, Evidence Based Practice, Foundations & Administration in Health Care, and Advanced Sports Emergency Care. The faculty member will have the primary responsibilities of teaching, scholarship, and service in support of the University, School, and Department missions. To ensure a smooth transition into our academic community, the successful candidate will participate in LMU's New Faculty Academy. Additionally, during their first year, the new faculty member will enjoy moderated scholarship and service expectations while receiving guidance and support from a faculty mentor assigned by the department.

Required Qualifications


Doctorate degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent professional preparation; *educational preparation in accordance with requirements of the University and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and *evidence of potential for effective teaching and scholarly activity.

support and promote the university s SEWS program within the curriculum

assist the department chair with necessary department, school or university reports/schedules as requested

demonstrate current knowledge of content and assist the department chair with curricular revisions and changes as requested

appropriately align course syllabi goals and objectives to academic major program goals and student outcomes for each course taught

develop a current syllabus for each assigned class and distribute a course syllabus to each student

submit a current copy of each syllabus to the department chair by a predetermined deadline

evaluate enrolled students and submit grades to the Registrar by a predetermined deadline

requisition instructional materials and supplies through the department chair

assure completion of the student course evaluation instrument for the semester as requested

participate in the faculty evaluation process and use the results to improve teaching and strengthen the major

establish and maintain the resources of the academic department, the school, and the University

submit to department chair his/her semester schedule that indicates weekly teaching assignment, office/conference hours and involvement in university
