Job Description The Department of Sport and Exercise Science at Lincoln Memorial University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Exercise Science. Teaching responsibilities may include Injury Evaluation of Extremities, Therapeutic Modalities, Rehabilitation & Therapeutic Exercise, General Medical Considerations, Evidence Based Practice, Foundations & Administration in Health Care, and Advanced Sports Emergency Care. The faculty member will have the primary responsibilities of teaching, scholarship, and service in support of the University, School, and Department missions. To ensure a smooth transition into our academic community, the successful candidate will participate in LMU's New Faculty Academy. Additionally, during their first year, the new faculty member will enjoy moderated scholarship and service expectations while receiving guidance and support from a faculty mentor assigned by the department.
Required Qualifications Doctorate degree in an appropriate discipline or equivalent professional preparation; *educational preparation in accordance with requirements of the University and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; and *evidence of potential for effective teaching and scholarly activity.
Preferred Qualifications *college-level teaching experience; and *experience with Canvas
learning management system

Job Duty undertake the Standard Instructional/Research/Service Workload as outlined in the Faculty/Staff Policy Manual
Job Duty provide course and classroom conduct as outlined in the Faculty/Staff Policy Manual
Job Duty comply with the university Faculty/Staff Policy Manual
Job Duty submit textbook requests
Job Duty comply with announced requirements
Job Duty engage in professional development
Job Duty assist the department chair with effective development and implementation of department s Student Recruitment and Retention Plan, such as Homepage, Brochures, and student letters
Job Duty assist department chair in the development, implementation and monitoring of the Long-Range Strategic Plan and Outcomes Assessment Plan for the assigned program/department
Job Duty support and promote the university s SEWS program within the curriculum
Job Duty assist the department chair with necessary department, school or university reports/schedules as requested
Job Duty demonstrate current knowledge of content and assist the department chair with curricular revisions and changes as requested
Job Duty appropriately align course syllabi goals and objectives to academic major program goals and student outcomes for each course taught
Job Duty develop a current syllabus for each assigned class and distribute a course syllabus to each student
Job Duty submit a current copy of each syllabus to the department chair by a predetermined deadline
Job Duty evaluate enrolled students and submit grades to the Registrar by a predetermined deadline
Job Duty requisition instructional materials and supplies through the department chair
Job Duty assure completion of the student course evaluation instrument for the semester as requested
Job Duty participate in the faculty evaluation process and use the results to improve teaching and strengthen the major
Job Duty establish and maintain the resources of the academic department, the school, and the University
Job Duty submit to department chair his/her semester schedule that indicates weekly teaching assignment, office/conference hours and involvement in university
Job Duty school and department councils or committees
Job Duty effectively advise assigned students in an individualized educational plan for their program of study and maintain an accurate and current academic file for each advisee
Job Duty explore career goals with each assigned advisee
Job Duty mentor majors through the research process
Job Duty fulfill the university s scholarship expectation through research, publication, grant development, and creative achievement
Job Duty participate in events that support the institution, the faculty, staff and students
Job Duty participate in commencement exercises
Job Duty participate in community and public service opportunities
Job Duty attend department, school, convocation, and university faculty meetings
Job Duty complete required institutional and program accreditation reports and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of the University
Job Duty perform other duties as assigned.
