Position Summary Job Description: The Department of Health Professions at York College of Pennsylvania is seeking an experienced, innovative, and highly motivated candidate for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor appointment to teach in our growing Exercise Science program to start August 2025.
The successful candidate will have experience in teaching courses in strength and conditioning, kinesiology, and/or personal training and group fitness. Candidates should have a demonstrated record of teaching as well as advising undergraduate students. Candidates will be expected to teach twelve hours per term in both the classroom and lab setting. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, have a strong commitment to working as part of a collaborative team of faculty, and have a strong commitment to active and engaging teaching pedagogy.
Additionally, candidates should demonstrate potential for commitment to the college and community through prior service activities. Applicants should possess a PhD in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field (ABD will be considered). For both teaching and research purposes, the successful candidate will have access to our new, state of the art exercise science lab as well as all other amenities within Grumbacher Sports and Fitness Center.
Outcome: Successful hiring of one (1) Full Time faculty member in the Department of Health Professions.
Essential Functions - Teach undergraduate kinesiology and strength and conditioning courses in a face-to-face environment.
- Develop a strong record of professional development.
- Evaluate course assignments and provide feedback to students in a timely manner.
- Advise students in the Exercise Science curriculum as well as other majors as needed.
- Actively participate in departmental and college-wide committees as part of faculty service.
- Integrate technology into the teaching environment.
Experience and Education Required - PhD in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field. ABD will be considered.
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or related certification, or willingness to obtain within a year of hiring.
- Three to five years of teaching experience in undergraduate level higher education.
Required Skills and Qualifications - A strong commitment to undergraduate education and willingness to collaborate with students and faculty.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
