Job Description BOSTON UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY invites applications for a full-time, tenured faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor, to begin in Fall 2025. Candidates should have a research record and agenda that engages and contributes to homiletics and the candidate's particular area of theological specialization. They should also have experience of preaching in churches and other contexts of ministry. STH is especially interested in homileticians whose work engages spirituality, cultural studies, global preaching traditions, and/or interfaith and postreligious audiences.
Required Skills The successful candidate will be an outstanding scholar and teacher, holding a ThD or PhD in Homiletics, Practical Theology (with homiletics or communications specialization), or an appropriate, equivalent degree, and with demonstrated potential for a strong record of publications. Candidates should be committed to the School's mission of preparing leaders for diverse forms of ministry in religious communities and faith-based organizations, as well as teaching doctoral students for the professoriate within the field of practical theology, and other forms of scholarship within the interdisciplinary context of a research university. Responsibilities and opportunities include teaching four courses per year in masters and doctoral programs of the School of Theology in residential and hybrid/online formats, as well as graduate advising and committee service.
