Highgate maintains corporate offices in London, New York, Dallas, and Seattle. Location: Graduate Princeton - Princeton, NJ Overview: Baristas perform several job duties and provide customer service. Baristas take orders and make coffee, tea, and other drinks to customer specifications. Baristas also operate cash registers and credit card machines. Responsibilities: Anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues. Communicates information to manager so that the team can respond as necessary to create a warm and welcoming environment during each shift. Assists with new partner training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed. Delivers outstanding customer service to all customers by acting with a customer comes first attitude and connecting with the customer. Discovers and responds to customer needs. Follows Starbucks as well as Highgate’s operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift. Maintains a clean and organized workspace so that associates can locate resources and product as needed. Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality. Provides quality beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards. Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products. Fundamental Requirements: Employees must at all times be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees. Process guests’ checks, collect cash and process credit cards and room charges according to standards. Perform opening and closing side work according to standards to ensure that guests are served promptly and efficiently. Be familiar with the computer system. Carry out cashiering functions by closing checks and servicing the guest. Occasional pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds Ability to stand during entire shift. Constant reaching, turning, and performing precision work Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times. Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with fellow associates and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner. Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests. Must be able to multitask and prioritize to ensure outstanding service. Approach all encounters with guests and associates in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner. Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings. Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel. Maintain high standards of personal appearance, uniform and grooming. Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions. Perform other duties as requested by management. Qualifications: Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred. Physical requirements: Flexible and long hours sometimes required. Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Ability to stand for the entire shift.
