POSITION TITLE: Curriculum Coordinator (Emphasis Math & Science)
REPORTS TO: Director of Curriculum
SUPERVISES: NA
POSITION GOAL: Accountable for the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of all mathematics and science curriculum and instruction within the District. Employee will provide professional development for appropriate staff virtually and in person. Data will be analyzed regularly to support adjustments necessary for fidelity of implementation and growth on academic progress of students..
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assists K through 12 teachers with improving techniques of mathematics and science instruction and overall student achievement while providing instructional strategies and various tools to aid the instructional process.
- Observes teachers and provides feedback aligned to research based effective instruction practices and district initiatives.
- Plans, schedules, and conducts staff professional development opportunities in math, science effective instructional procedures, resource utilization and other topics as requested.
- Prepares for and facilitates monthly District Math Advisory Council meetings and biweekly High School Building Chair meetings.
- Monitors mathematics and science instructional programs and develops strategies for improvement.
- Assist the district school system with the selection of appropriate textbooks, teacher guides and other instructional materials and equipment for the curriculum department.
- Facilitates and contributes to the development of common standards-aligned assessments, curriculum maps, and pacing guides in mathematics and science.
- Collaborates with curriculum department and directors to provide an integrated instructional program.
- Plans and facilitates New Teacher Induction Week activities.
- Collaborates with various stakeholders to implement and support district-wide initiatives.
- Analyze state and district achievement data to inform, train and support teaching and learning across the district.
- Leads the process for early entrance and grade acceleration for the district in collaboration with the curriculum team and directors.
- Coordinates Reservoir Gifted Academy entrance process and serves as the District Office liaison to monitor throughout the year.
- Provides ideas and plans to Superintendent and Director of Curriculum for reimagining learning for math and science. Implements approved plans, monitors, and reports progress.
- Collaborates with curriculum team to update the teaching and learning sections of the district website and other forms of communication for parents, students, and teachers.
- Performs other related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE AND CRITICAL SKILLS: - Considerable knowledge of the current literature, trends, and developments in mathematics and science instruction.
- Highly developed organizational and communication skills.
- Able to establish and maintain good working relationships with diverse groups of people, including adult learners.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Good technical skills with technology and presentation tools.
- Ability to collect and analyze data.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Master's degree in education related field (e.g., curriculum, assessment, math, science, administration) from an accredited institution. (required)
- Illinois Standard Professional Education License with endorsement in General Administration or Principal certification. (required)
- Experience as a building administrator in elementary, middle, or high school. (preferred)
- Experience working with curriculum and instruction development. (preferred)
- Minimum of five to seven years of mathematics and/or science classroom teaching experience at multiple grade levels. (preferred)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-month position
EVALUATION: Primary evaluator will be the Director of Curriculum.
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and district range.
