The digital accessibility intern supports various teams within the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Office of Marketing and Communications, including the digital marketing and brand strategy team, the podcasting team and the publications team. They will have the opportunity to build a strong, diverse design portfolio featuring accessible HTML pages for publications, ALT text and caption writing, podcast transcriptions, and accessibility compliance logs that will support the accessibility efforts of one of the largest colleges within the University of Georgia.

Position Summary:

The Office of Marketing and Communications, a support unit for the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, seeks to hire a candidate with a demonstrated knowledge of web accessibility practices. This position will focus primarily on web accessibility, including developing accessible HTML versions of pdfs, adding ALT text to images and graphics and transcribing podcast audio. This role is perfect for someone who wants to learn the ins and outs of making digital content accessible for all. Work schedule is 15 hours per week during business hours. Work hours are flexible and will be structured around class schedules and related deadlines, with the possibility of working remotely.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position:

● Comfortable writing alt text and descriptive captions for social media content, or willing to learn.● Proficiency with HTML and web development.● Knowledge of ADA and Section 508 accessibility standards.● Proficiency with Otter.AI is a plus.● Can execute creative solutions to accessibility assignments in a timely manner.● Takes initiative on a project and follow it through, start to finish.Is detail-oriented, meets deadlines and can work independently
