Job Details Responsibilities:
Case Management:
Assist attorneys in managing probate cases, including estates, trusts, and guardianships.
Maintain case files and ensure all documentation is up to date and accurate.
Document Preparation:
Draft, proofread, and file legal documents such as wills, trusts, petitions, inventories, accountings, and notices.
Prepare estate tax returns and other necessary forms.
Client Communication:
Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates and responding to inquiries.
Gather necessary information and documents from clients and other parties involved.
Court Filings:
File legal documents with the appropriate court systems, both electronically and in person.
Calendar and monitor court dates and deadlines.
Research:
Conduct legal research on probate laws and procedures.
Assist in the preparation of legal briefs and memoranda.
Estate Administration:
Assist in the administration of estates, including asset identification, valuation, and distribution.
Coordinate with appraisers, accountants, and other professionals.
Billing and Administrative Duties:
Track time and assist with billing for probate matters.
Perform other administrative duties as needed, such as scheduling appointments and managing correspondence.
Qualifications:
Paralegal certification or equivalent experience.
Prior experience in probate or estate planning.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in legal research and legal software.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
