Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Phlebotomist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing blood draws and specimen collection, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining high standards of safety and hygiene. This role is crucial in providing quality patient care within a hospital or clinical setting.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipunctures and capillary draws for blood sampling in accordance with established protocols.
- Ensure accurate specimen collection, labeling, and processing for laboratory analysis.
- Maintain aseptic technique throughout all procedures to prevent contamination.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs before, during, and after blood collection to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures to patients and addressing any concerns they may have.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure the efficient flow of specimens to the laboratory.
- Adhere to all hospital policies regarding infection control and safety regulations.
- Keep accurate records of procedures performed and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of human physiology and medical terminology relevant to phlebotomy practices.
- Proficiency in phlebotomizing techniques and laboratory procedures.
- Experience with specimen collection processing and understanding of laboratory techniques.
- Ability to perform patient care duties with compassion and professionalism.
- Familiarity with vital signs monitoring and interpretation.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members.
- Attention to detail in following protocols for blood sampling and documentation.
