How you make a difference

The Psychiatrist provid es a comprehensive range of psychiatric services to incarcerated patients , including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders. Additionally, the Psychiatrist provides clinical consultation to mental health and health care staff on identified cases, ensuring high-quality mental health care for inmates. Overall, the position requires a strong commitment to providing compassionate care, sound clinical judgment, and effective communication with interdisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric services to inmate patients , including evaluations, treatment, and monitoring of psychotropic medications in compliance with professional and company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure uniformity of mental health services and documentation of psychiatric services.
  • Provide supervision and oversight to psychiatric nurse (if applicable) and consultation/training services to mental health and medical staff.
  • Participate in involuntary medication of high-risk inmates and provide documentation of psychiatric services contacts as requested .
  • Exercise independent medical judgment in diagnosis and treatment of patients while adhering to approved medication formulary and notifying appropriate staff of clinical or administrative concerns.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Doctorate in psychiatry.

Experience

  • Training and experience providing psychiatric services to an adult population.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Physician who is licensed to practice medicine in the state of employment
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in psychiatry.
  • CPR Certified.

Additional Details

*This is an on-site or hybrid position*You will be working 24 hours a week total between our Greensboro and Highpoint sites both adult correctional facilities.The person chosen can create their own schedule as long as they meet the 24 hours a week need.
