As a member of our hardware development team, the Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for developing and supporting state-of-the-art Industrial Barcode scanners, imagers, and Machine Vision systems. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be involved in all aspects of product level hardware engineering to include researching, designing, and testing electrical circuitry for small form factors. The Senior Electrical Engineer will also work closely with other engineers and the manufacturing team to continue our history of developing innovative products by providing integrated and robust hardware designs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design engineering solutions for barcode and machine vision systems that includes prototyping, component selection, circuit simulation, schematic capture, board layout and hardware bring-up.
  • Responsible for designing electrical systems that include image sensor, SMPS, high speed interfaces, LED drivers and custom analog features.
  • Monitor trends in the latest electronic technology and conduct research to determine applicability and potential for Omron products
  • Develop Partnerships with internal customers and cross-group functions (e.g., Mechanical, FW, Manufacturing and Assembly) to identify product requirements, drive product feature prioritization and trade-offs (cost/schedule/risk), and establish production release criteria
  • Ensure that designs meet project specifications and schedule
  • Participate in design reviews throughout the project lifecycle. Must be able to communicate designs effectively
  • Responsible for creating engineering documentation such as functional block diagrams, detailed design intentions, and change release drawings.
  • Provide expert electrical engineering support to both internal and external clients for items already in production. These activities include maintaining product design, value engineering activities, working with sourcing team to address component and supplier issues, providing direct support to manufacturing for troubleshooting and failure analysis
  • Meet and correspond with internal and external clients regarding design requirements, specifications, prototypes, troubleshooting and customization
  • Represent electrical engineering team on company level initiatives
  • Provide periodic and ad hoc reports of project and design progress
  • Predict and quantify technical risks in the project
  • Ensure that all design documentation is properly annotated, reviewed and retaine

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience designing electronic circuits for new products which includes analog and mixed-signal design.
  • Knowledge of and skills in the design, evaluation and testing of electronic and/or electrical circuits and components.
  • Direct hands-on lab experience with bench test equipment such as oscilloscopes and function generators with an emphasis on low noise and high speed
  • Proven experience in generating, designing and executing concepts into manufacturable designs.
  • Demonstrated creativity with strong analytical and technical expertise
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills
  • Proven advanced proficiency with analysis, simulation and design tools.
  • Travel – 5% or less

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct circuit design experience with power supplies, low noise analog design (DAC, ADC, Op-Amps) and interface electronics (IO)
  • Direct experience designing production products using CPUs/MPUs, FPGAs, and the latest DRAM interfaces (LPDDR4/5)
  • Hands-on experience with EMI/EMC testing & best practices in the design
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces such as LVDS, MIPI D-PHY, PCIe, and USB 3.0 and standard interfaces such as SPI, I2C, and Gigabit Ethernet
  • Advance Proficiency with Altium Designer

The annual salary range for this role is $130,000 - $150,000 a year, however, base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. This position is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus program. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
