Sound Designer Apprenticeship (Summer Season) Theatre Aspen, the award-winning professional theatre company located in the heart of the Colorado mountains, is accepting applications for a Company Management Apprentice to join our summer apprentice program. Situated in one of the most unique destinations in the world, Theatre Aspen is the region’s most celebrated theatrical institution and has been a fixture of the community for over forty years, attracting a long litany of renowned performers. For over a decade, the Theatre Aspen Apprentice Program (TAAP) for aspiring theatre professionals has been offering the opportunity for college students to gain hands-on experience with professionals in their fields and the opportunity to observe and assist in the theatrical production process from start to finish. Theatre Aspen Apprentices will make valuable connections and develop career skills by working on the main stage, participating in special events, assisting in the administrative office and front of house and through available design and teaching opportunities in the Theatre Aspen School. While at Theatre Aspen, all apprentices will have the opportunity to work with creative team members and will attend weekly seminars taught by Theatre Aspen staff and other leading industry professionals. Dates: May 26, 2025 – August 26, 2025 (Dates are flexible)

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Take the lead for sound design for education productions and cabarets Assist with inventory of all audio and video equipment Maintain/update paperwork Assist in installing system cabling, speakers, rigging, cameras, and monitors for education shows and cabarets Create a workspace you can use to monitor, run, and maintain shows, which includes setting up wireless mics and monitoring board, organizing work drawers and boxes, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment Assist in setting up the band area, paying particular attention to clean cable runs when installing mics, power, and band monitoring systems Assist in building, painting, and maintaining mic rigs for all education shows and cabarets Monitor expendables and supplies Serve as a member of the changeover crew between shows under the supervision of the Sound Engineer and/or Production Manager; support other events and needs on the main stage as time allows Assist with the summer gala as needed WHO YOU ARE and WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE: You are a college-aged young professional, a currently-enrolled college student that has completed two years of school, or a recently-graduated college student no more than 12 months past your graduation, with either a declared major in a related field or relevant experience in the industry You have a passion for the Arts and Theatre and bringing both to the Aspen community You believe in teamwork, camaraderie, and have a willingness to pitch in You have excellent people skills
