The Role

Claims Investigators are responsible for conducting thorough interviews of all parties involved in workers’ compensation claim injuries, providing timely updates to the client and writing comprehensive reports in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct In-Person Investigations and Interviews: Travel to various locations—sometimes long distances or overnight—to conduct recorded statements, scene canvasses, and meet with relevant parties such as claimants, witnesses, doctors, or agencies.
  • Document and Report Findings Accurately and Timely: Compose and submit grammatically correct updates and reports within designated deadlines (24 to 72 hours), ensuring all findings, interviews, and case developments are clearly documented in CaseLink.
  • Maintain Case Organization and Communication: Keep case files updated and organized, upload all documents and evidence to CaseLink the same day they are obtained, and communicate case updates to clients professionally via email and/or phone as needed.
  • Apply Investigative Knowledge and Critical Thinking: Interpret interview responses effectively, ask appropriate follow-up questions beyond standard questionnaires, and apply knowledge of workers’ compensation and legal processes to make informed recommendations.
  • Operate Equipment and Maintain Secure Work Environment: Utilize tools such as digital recorders, scanners, and cameras to collect evidence; label and store electronic files securely; and manage a safe and efficient home office workspace as a telecommuter.

What You'll Need to Apply

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Access to a working computer, digital recorder, and multi-page scanner/copier
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 150 miles, including same-day and overnight trips
  • Flexible availability, including early mornings, occasional weekends, overtime, and short-notice rush cases
  • Personal credit card with available balance for reimbursable business expenses
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, sit for long periods, and walk varied terrain for fieldwork
  • Comfortable working remotely in a secure, distraction-free home office environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and familiar with case management tools

Qualifications

  • Experience in insurance or claims investigations and/or working knowledge of AOE/COE workers’ compensation claims
  • Preferred: Experience conducting claims or accident interviews and taking recorded statements (in person or over the phone)
  • Insurance, claims, or accident adjuster experience is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (especially in Criminal Justice, Communications, or related field)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to compose grammatically correct, professional reports and updates
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to ask thoughtful, open-ended follow-up questions during interviews
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in maintaining accurate and secure digital case files
  • Able to work independently and manage a dynamic caseload under tight deadlines
  • Maintains objectivity, professionalism, and confidentiality in all interactions
  • Bonus: Bilingual (Spanish) and/or military veteran experience
