Job Description
Position Summary: The Industrial Safety Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safety and health of all employees within the industrial workplace. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, conducting regular inspections, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations and standards. The Industrial Safety Supervisor will work closely with management, staff, and regulatory bodies to promote a culture of safety and mitigate workplace hazards.
Key Responsibilities: - Safety Program Management:
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety training sessions and workshops for employees.
- Ensure all safety programs align with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits.
- Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Investigate workplace accidents and incidents to determine causes and prevent future occurrences.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and submit required safety reports and documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, incidents, and inspections.
- Employee Training and Engagement:
- Train employees on safe work practices and emergency procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety through continuous education and communication.
- Address employee concerns related to workplace safety promptly and effectively.
- Emergency Response:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans.
- Coordinate and conduct emergency drills and simulations.
- Act as a point of contact for emergency situations and provide guidance on response procedures.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work collaboratively with management and staff to implement safety initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison between the company and regulatory agencies.
- Communicate safety standards and updates to all employees clearly and effectively.
Qualifications: - Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in industrial safety or a related field.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to conduct thorough investigations and root cause analysis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
- Capability to work in various industrial environments, including exposure to noise, chemicals, and extreme temperatures.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Working Conditions: - The role involves working in both office and industrial settings.
- Regular travel to different facilities and sites may be required.
- Must be available to respond to emergencies outside of regular working hours.
